SuccessWorks Leadership Academy was built from the ground up — just like the man who founded it.
Michael Hornby started his first business at age 10, selling Christmas cards and Easter candy door-to-door. Even then, he was a top producer, a driven young man who poured his energy into school sports, gymnastics, Boy Scouts, and a life of community service.
After serving in the U.S. Army, Michael built a successful career spanning over 30 years as the President of HPC Painting and Restorations Corporation. He also spent 15 years in the insurance industry, where he held positions as a sales director and trainer. Additionally, he served as President of the New Jersey Association of Health Underwriters and volunteered with the Salvation Army, the World Trade Center recovery effort, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department.
Michael is a certified coach through Maxwell Leadership, the AHC Coaching Cohort, DISC, and Working Genius. He is also a certified executive coach with The Followell Company, a professional leadership coaching firm. His contributions to the field include serving on the Maxwell President’s Advisory Council and receiving the Maxwell Cultural Award for Intentional Growth.
Currently, through the SuccessWorks Leadership Academy, Michael equips business owners—especially those in the trades—with the mindset, systems, and leadership skills necessary to build thriving businesses and meaningful lives.

As a U.S. Army veteran and former president of the New Jersey Association of Health Underwriters, he spent 15 years in the insurance industry helping families and businesses protect what matters most. Michael served as Director of Sales for a regional insurance agency, where he trained professionals in sales, leadership, and personal development.
His service extended into volunteer efforts with the Salvation Army, the World Trade Center recovery mission, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department. For over 30 years, Michael also led as President of HPC Painting and Restorations Corporation — building a respected, relationship-driven business in the trades.
Today, he brings that same experience, discipline, and purpose to business owners through SuccessWorks Leadership Academy.
